Ne računajući Cup of Sand, kompilaciju raritetnih snimaka i b-strana singlova iz 2003. i tri live albuma iz The Clambakes Series, prošlo je osam godina otkada je Superchunk izdao posljednji studijski album. Ipak, uzevši u obzir ovogodišnja izdanja - Leaves in the Gutter i Crossed Wires - čini se da Mac McCaughan još uvijek ne može dotaknuti dno svojeg super-saka ultimativnih pop-hitova. Teško je uopće zamisliti koliko je kreativne energije potrebno za dvije grupe, jednu (vrlo agilnu) izdavačku kuću, brojne projekte i kolaboracije i povremeni aktivizam kao što je, primjerice, stručno svjedočenje pred senatskim odborom o budućnosti radija kao medija. It's hard to imagine, even, the amount of creative energy it takes an individual to manage two succesful rock-groups, a small but feisty record label, numerous projects and collaborations and a streak of somewhat casual activism.
